MCC INDIA Projects

In the year 2009 with partnership of MCC, from rural and urban area of Bishnupur Block, 415 needy families identified by FPSA through baseline survey, who have to be addressed by the project plan-SAMPARK SETU which is a linkage bridge,is an imaginary bridge being developed, to build relationship between Women Self Help Groups, through which direct commercial, socio-economic-cultural & educational exchange will be developed.

FPSA identified that key problem of this area which includes lack of education, poverty, food insecurity & alcoholism. Due to this, school dropouts are increasing & children are forced to work as child labor to supplement family income. Due to lack of health awareness, many are addicted to tobacco, liquor and smoking.

Within 3 years i.e. end of FY 2012, FPSA has becomes the facilitator/catalyst between the rural and urban producers and an instrument of sensitization of the urban middle class to procure the products, which now provide direct benefit to its producers.. But in the process of this journey, FPSA took almost one full year to build the rapport with populace and formed 17 Women Self Help Groups (SHGs) in Rural and Urban areas, which are now is in the process of formation of two women federations with the clusters of SHGs, (one in rural and other in urban area).

Within FY 2015, FPSA plans to facilitate these two federation teams of Women SHGs, registered under the Societies Act 1961 of Government of West Bengal. So that this two bodies can have separate name and identification as a Government recognized local Organization. This partnership with MCC immensely helped FPSA to achieve their objective in terms of Women empowerment where capacity building is central axis of the plan and it also clearly reflects in FPSA objective.

The cumulative effect of Plan is already visible when FPSA staff of “Sampark – Setu” Project, goes to the target area. It is quite visible now that much of the difference of class, religion, ethnicity, gender is distinctly reduced and in any pocket, if such problem exists, root cause explained elaborately to the participants, without losing patience.
